In US frontier popular history, the Appalachian Bowie was a distinct style from this region. Today the Appalachian Trail is known as the longest hiking-only trail in the world at over 3,500 kms to walk if completing the entire trail. The bowie blade is rather large at about 300 mm with 175 mm of blade and the unique "coffin style" handle. Blade width is 42 mm. The handle has 8 holes for optional 3/32" pins and 2 holes for 3/16" pins. The 3/16" pins also fit 1/4" corby bolts. Blade thickness is 4.76 mm.
