Description
Brisa Nessmuk 125, Carbon Steel Blade
Blade from Brisa in Finland, this is the "Nessmuk" style of blade named after George W. Sears, pen name "Nessmuk". Sears was an early pioneer in writing about bushcraft, calling for going to the forest "not to rough it, but to smooth it". His book is available free online and considered a "must-read" by many of us.
The Brisa Nessmuk is a full-tang, carbon steel blade in 80CrV2, hardened to 59 HRC. The blade is 3.8 mm thick, 25-35 mm high and has 125 mm of blade length. Total length including handle is 235 mm. The handle has holes for 1/4" corby bolts and 1/4" lanyard tube. The blade is razor sharp and shaves hair off your leg straight out of the box. Hardness is 58-59 HRC.
This blade fits the EnZo Handle Scales for Trapper and Chef blades, if wanting to use pre-milled scales that come with holes drilled and corby bolts.
More on Nessmuk:
George Washington Sears (December 2, 1821 – May 1, 1890) was a sportswriter for Forest and Stream magazine in the 1880s and an early conservationist. His stories, appearing under the pen name, "Nessmuk" popularized self-guided canoe camping tours of the Adirondack lakes in open, lightweight solo canoes and what is today called ultralight camping or ultralight backpacking. . He took his pen name from a Native American who had befriended him in early childhood.
