Description

Brisa Nessmuk Kit with Handle Scales and Sheath

This is one of the most complete knife kits we sell.

This kit consists of

  • High quality Brisa Nessmuk 125 mm blade in 80CrV2 Carbon steel
  • Handle Scales, already shaped in 3D (select handle material)
  • Brass corby bolts
  • Quality leather sheath "Nessmuk 125 mm in Brown leather"

Options: Select handle scale material to personalise your kit.

Blade from Brisa in Finland, this is the "Nessmuk" style of blade named after George W. Sears, pen name "Nessmuk".

Sears was an early pioneer in writing about bushcraft, calling for going to the forest "not to rough it, but to smooth it". His book is available for free online and considered a "must-read" by many of us who go to the bush to enjoy a few days of quiet, stoking a fire and holding down a log.

The Brisa Nessmuk is a full-tang, carbon steel blade in 80CrV2, hardened to 59 HRC. The blade is 3.8 mm thick,  25-35 mm high and has 125 mm of blade length. Total length including handle is 235 mm. The handle has holes for 1/4" corby bolts and 1/4" lanyard tube. The blade is razor sharp and shaves hair off your leg straight out of the box.

This high-quality kit is 80% completed.

Attach scales to blade with Max Strength Epoxy.

Securely screw down the Corby bolts, then file or grind off the bolt heads sticking above the handle scales.

Then sand the scales and finish them with oil, dye, wax or similar to seal them for improved durability.

The leather sheath is ready to use, in thick, brown oxe leather.

A high quality kit that is easy to assemble using basic hand tools.I didn't use the spacers to get a more rustic look and am very happy with the completed knife.

    Tough blade

A lot quicker to build than making the scales from Micarta slabs. The pre drilled holes were a little out. Ones side was deeper than the other. This corrected in the final shaping.
The Nessmuk design is new to me, but easy to use.
