Description
Brusletto 60 Blade, the "Spikkekniv"
Carbon Steel blade, with black coating from the heat treatment left on.
Brusletto is a knife manufacturer in Geilo,Norway, having made knives and scythes since 1896.
The area was mined for ore more than 1500 years before Brusletto started up, and the area has a long tradition in making swords, axes and farming tools.
The blade is made from carbon steel and is called "Spikkekniv" (Whittling knife or Carving knife) and was developed with the assistance of the Norwegian Public School system. More than 150,000 school children and 2,500 teachers helped with feedback and suggestions, creating a short, sharp blade for good control. The completed Brusletto knife used in Norwegian schools has a slightly large handle for the blade shape to help with blade control.
The blade is 2.7 mm thick, about 13 mm high and has about 60 mm of blade.
Total length from tip to end of tang is 115 mm, the tang can be cut to fit the handle.
Note: if wanting the closest matching bolster, get the R24 or the R30.
(R24 has a 2 mm slot and R30 a 3 mm slot, this blade is 2.7 mm thick so there is no exact match)
