  • Carbon Steel Damascus Billet, 14 layers

Carbon Steel Billets from Oblivion Blades, Made in Australia (14 layers)

These are made to be forged or textured by hammer and are as such not flat as monosteel bar stock.

The billets are made by Jerarmie Heywood from Oblivion Blades. The billets consists of 14 layers of 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels.

The billets are meant for forging blades from and then etched after grinding but can also be used for stock removal of thicker blades.

Check out Oblivion Blades on Instagram for ideas on how to texture these by hammer or angle grinder if preferring added complexity in the pattern.

As each is hand made they are different in size but weight is about the same, roughly 600-700 grams.

The size is from 450-510 mm in length, about 50 mm in width and 3-3.5 mm in thickness to be forged or ground to final shape or thickness.

NOTICE: This is not a steel for beginners. There are no refunds for messing up these by for instance forging them too cold or heat treating them incorrectly.

This is an advanced product for higher level makers who accept the risks involved in a product that consisting of forge welded steels, requiring high heat during forging and are not quite as forgiving with heat treatment as mono steels.
