Description

Mora SS 2000 Knife Blade

Stainless Steel blade, polished to a near mirror finish.

Mora blades are made in Mora,Sweden, the maker has over a century of history in making these blades.

The blade is made from Swedish 12c27 Stainless Steel, known for great edge retention and corrosion resistance.

This blade is slightly wider than the classic Mora whittler blades, with a profile more like a hunting knife.

The blade blank is 2.5 mm thick, about 23 mm high and has about 118 mm of blade.

Total length from tip to end of tang is 195 mm, the tang can be cut to fit the handle if required.

Mora blades are well known amongst bushcrafters as good value, strong blades.

We do not carry an exact matching bolster for this blade, the R24 can be filed to fit but will require a thin file to expand the 2 mm slit. It may be easier to make a bolster by cutting off a section of the handle block so it can be worked from both sides until a tight fit is achieved. Then a layer of spacer material, and the rest of the handle block with a bigger tang hole.

Example of some finished knives using the Mora SS 2000 blade, done by Greg Oxley in Tasmania; first one has antler handle and stainless bolster. Second one has tasmanian burl handle and antler bolster;

    Extremely good all round knife for gutting , skinning and legging deer . I did not have to sharpen my knife till I was on to my fourth deer . I have never had that good a knife blade that has held its edge for so long before .
