Description

Top Quality Desert Ironwood blocks from the south of USA

Highly figured blocks with from Sonoran Desert Ironwood (olneya tesota) prized by knife makers as a hard to work but stunning handle material.

These are high quality blocks selected due to how they will finish. Each block is about 30 x 40 x 125-130 mm.

NOTE this is a highly figured natural material and each block is rated as A or A+ by our US supplier and may still have small cracks or voids that can be filled with CA glue.

Desert Ironwood is native to the southwest of the US and to the extreme north of Mexico. These hand picked pieces are from the Sonoran desert.

Example of Desert Ironwood from same supplier on a beautiful knife by Kevin Slattery from Kev's Forge in Canberra:

Desert Ironwood hand block , extreme quality

Posted by Jason Yendall on 14th May 2021

I love this stuff. It takes a little bit of patience at time to finish a handle off as it tends to clog paper and belts a bit. The density and fantastic grain /colour and patterns makes it a no brainer for my taste. I love it .
