Description
Hybrid Block - Stabilised Fiddleback Blackwood - Blue Resin
High quality, hybrid handle blocks made from Australian hardwood burls stabilised in Resinex, then cast in in colourful resin.
These blocks are made in Australia, each block is cast in individual moulds using highly figured burl pieces.
The blocks are cured in a pressure pot at 55 PSI, and before use each of the burl pieces are already stabilised.
Hybrid blocks are a colourful addition to the maker space, enabling makers to use highly figured pieces of burl that would otherwise go to waste. Combining these with the colours and texture of casting resin into a solid block that can be drilled, ground and sanded into beautiful pieces.
Brad and Jess from Ginger Beard Blades in Gippland, Victoria use a quality casting resin with anti-yellowing additivies and excellent adhesion to other materials for a strong, lasting bond. The resin used has excellent clarity and low shrinkage for a secure bond and for the colours used to really pop on the finished handle.
The blocks are approximately 20x40x140mm
Pro tip from Brad: Sand to a minimum of 800 grit before taking the completed handle to a polishing mop with white or pink rouge.
