NKD is the knife brand of Dennis Holmbacka from Finland, mixing old Finnish knife traditions with new advancements in steel and design. The result is a unique combination of quality blades made in proven steels, often mixing traditional blade shapes and grinds with modern tang construction, carry options and weight distribution. 

NKD Highlander, inspired by the Scottish "Sgian-dubh" knife. Originally used for eating and preparing fruit, meat, and slicing bread and cheese, as well as other more general everyday uses.

The blade is made of Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel  with a chemical composition optimized for high quality for use in professional knives. The chemical composition provides a unique combination of properties, including:

• Excellent edge performance
• Very high hardness
• Good corrosion resistance

Sandvik 14C28N is mainly recommended for knife applications that place very high demands on sharpness, edge stability and corrosion resistance.

This blade can be easily framed with handle scales held together by 1/4" Corby Bolts. 

The blade has 2 mounting holes that match 1/4" Corby bolts or 3/16" (4.6 mm) metal pins and a 1/4" hole for a lanyard tube.
