Used to slick down or burnish the cut edges of leather, first applying either water or gum tragacanth.
Makes the edges of leather look shiny and smooth for a much more professional look.
One of the things setting hobby leatherwork apart from factory made pieces is that factory made pieces are usually never burnished.
