Description

Laurin 80 Whittling blade, Stainless

Stainless Steel blade, "whittler shaped" as in short, sharp and with a profile that gives good control.

Great, sharp blade for whittling, camp chores and general use that holds a sharp edge.

Blade is from Finland, made by Laurin in C-0 stainless steel.

The blade is 3 mm thick, about 22 mm high and has about 80 mm of blade.

Total length from tip to end of tang is 204 mm, the tang can be cut to fit the handle.

The Laurin blades are stamped out, helping to keep the cost down.

This means you will need to file the tang and shoulders of the blade a little before the bolster will fit.

Being stainless steel, this blade is shinier than the carbon steel blades and can take more moisture before rusting.

Note: if wanting the matching bolster, get the R30. This is the same blade as the Polar 80 whittler but without logo, from same maker.

Note: This is a specialised blade for whittling softer woods, having a higher bevel angle and a thin, hard edge. This gives great control and cutting in softer woods but for general camp chores or whittling Australian harder woods, it may need a secondary microbevel added if the edge chips.
