Description

Huon Pine Handle Scales – Set of 2

Add the warm golden colour and fine, even grain of Huon Pine to your next knife handle. Native to Tasmania, this distinctive timber is valued for its workability and naturally aromatic oils.

Supplied as a pair of unfinished scales, these blanks suit a full-tang knife handle or other small woodworking project. Each scale is approximately 130 × 40 × 10 mm. Check your handle outline and pin layout against the available material before shaping.

Working & finishing

Huon Pine is easy to shape with hand tools and can be sanded and polished to a smooth finish. Its natural oils can affect adhesive bonds and some finishes. Follow your adhesive and finish manufacturers’ preparation instructions for oily timber, and test compatibility on an offcut before assembly.
