Description
Nickel Silver Sheet, 1 mm thick
Nickel silver sheet or spacer material, approx 120 x 240 mm in size.
Used for spacer materials in handle construction, this is a single piece of nickel silver approx one handle high and 6 handle blocks wide.
Nickel silver is an alloy of copper, nickel and zinc and is brighter than brass but not as "white" as nickel or pure silver. Often used in handle construction as guard material in thicker pieces or spacer material in thinner sheet sizes. Polishes up nicely for a bright contrasting line between other materials.
As any hard material, to not stand up proud when sanding the handle; always wrap the sand paper around a hard object like a piece of steel and keep the spacer material flat and flush with the materials on each side. As the nickel silver is harder than the handle materials around it, it may create a bulge if not backing the paper with a hard backing before switching grits.
