Description

Paddle Strop for Spoon Carving and Hook Knives, with Polishing Compound

Custom made for rounded blades like spoon carving knives, bowl carving blades and hook knives this block is for both sharpening and stropping.

On the one side you attach sand paper to sharpen the inside of the rounded blades and the other side is leather for stropping the blades. The sand paper can be replaced as it wears out, as well as giving you the option to change grits.

  • Total length – 380 mm (14.96 inches)
  • Length of the leatherworking part – 230 mm (9.05 inches)
  • Working width of the leather – 80 mm (3.14 inches)
  • Base material – Ashwood

Included with the 310 mm long paddle is P1 polishing compound for the rough leather side, as well as a couple of spare pieces of sandpaper.

Stropping a knife blade is part of getting it truly razor sharp, done after sharpening and often during use. Experienced wood carvers and spoon carvers will strop their tools regularly during use, to maintain the sharp edge. This is safer and easier on the hands than waiting until the blade is dull, and make for a cleaner result in the wood.
