Description
Polar Whittler Stainless Steel Knife Blade
A whittler-shaped stainless steel blade, designed to be short, sharp, and highly controllable. The narrow profile and fine point give excellent control for detailed cutting and whittling work.
Manufactured in Finland by Polar, this blade is made from C-0 stainless steel, offering good edge retention with improved corrosion resistance compared to carbon steel. The bright stainless finish tolerates moisture better and requires less maintenance.
Blade specifications
- Steel: C-0 stainless steel
- Blade thickness: 3 mm
- Blade height: approx. 22 mm
- Blade length: approx. 80 mm
- Total length (tip to end of tang): 204 mm
The tang can be trimmed to suit the handle design.
Fitting notes
Polar blades are stamped, which helps keep the cost down.
As a result, light filing of the tang and shoulders may be required before fitting a bolster.
For a matching bolster, we recommend the R30 Extended.
Use & edge geometry (important)
This is a specialised whittling blade, optimised for softer woods.
It features:
- A higher bevel angle
- A thin, hard edge
This provides excellent control and cutting performance in softer timbers.
For general camp chores or whittling harder Australian woods, adding a secondary micro-bevel is recommended to reduce the risk of edge chipping.

Didn't disappoint
Like all Polar blades you need to spend a little time prepping the blade to fit a bolster, especially where the tang meets the blade. But this just means a bit of filing to remove any rough spots left from the stamping. After that, these blades need little work. They polish beautifully and take a wicked edge. It is easy to get them shaving sharp.
