Spalted Flame Myrtle Handle Block
Spalting is a a term used for wood that has been attached by funghi to a degree enough to create colours or pattern before being harvested.
These are dry and hard blocks, the spalting creating some colour and pattern variation for an interesting look.
Myrtle is a tree native to Tasmania, one of the most dominant trees in the cool rainforests there. Popular with furniture makers and woodworkers for ease of working and taking a great finish, myrtle is also made into veneer with it's pink to red colouring.
This is a single block of myrtle about 30 x 45 x 145 mm in size, and as all natural materials it may contain natural flaws or defects. All blocks are inspected as part of processing to size to but there are no guarantees for hidden flaws.
