Granite surface plate for knife making and leatherwork

A bigger size at 300 x 300 x 50 mm this is a heavy and solid stone surface plate!

A "surface plate" is a flat, even surface used for taking measurements, mark accurate lines, and other jobs requiring a flat surface in knife making.

In knife making this can be used on it's own but is mostly used with a digital height gauge. To mark out centrelines in handle blocks, checking for flatness and other tasks.

It is also very handy in leatherwork as the large, very flat surface is a great background for leather carving, stamping and hole stitching - with adequate backing in between so the tools do not hit the actual stone.

These are big and heavy at approx 300 x 300 x 50 mm in black stone and weight about 13 kg.

Each surface plate is packed securely in a small plywood crate with straps around it and can be sent by Post.

These are very flat for accurate work, graded "00" for accuracy of flatness by the manufacturer, we do not have any certification of accuracy for this claim but they seem very, very flat to us.
