Description
01 Carbon Tool Steel
O1 knife steel. Manufactured by Bohler-Uddeholm grade K460.
Oil hardening blade and tool steel, popular as a strong tough steel with better edge retention than for instance 1084 but requiring a more controlled heat treatment.
Buying 01 steel and heat treating it like a simple carbon steel like 1084 will be a waste of time and money.

01 tool steel
I have just cut 2 knife blanks and set in the primary bevels. they will go for heat treatment & annealing shortly. Initial observations is the bllet is easy to work with, and I expevt will result in a couple of good hunting knives. Thanks Nordic Edge.
