Description
9Cr18Mo Stainless Blade Steel PREHARDENED and TEMPERED
Already heat treated pieces approx 56-60 HRC, ready to grind into stick tang blades.
These might with difficulty - and swearing- be drilled but we recommend not trying.
High Carbon Stainless Steel for blades, high in Chromium for good corrosion resistance in the kitchen or marine use.
One of the alloys in the 440C family of knife steels, 9Cr18Mo has better edge retention and is not as easy to grind and finish as for instance 14C28N or AEB-L.
Composition approx:
C 0.97%, Si 0.53%, Mn 0.57%, P 0.013%, S 0.007%, Mo 0.53%, Cr 18.64%, Ni 0.33%

Heat treated stainless steel
Not much selection of hardened stainless.. and a bit expensive. 4 mm too thick for kitchen knives.. great for larger bowie style knife.
