Blacksmithing Workshop, 12 - 6 pm
Location: Brookvale, NSW 2100 (Northern Beaches, Sydney)
Come spend a Saturday with us on this practical introduction to Blacksmithing, and go home with your very own hand forged results to show for it!
You will experience shaping steel with hammer and fire, as well as learn a bit about the forge, anvil, tools and techniques used in blacksmithing.
1-day hands-on experience where you will make your own bottle opener as well as another small project like a coat hook, forged skull coin or similar small project.
Included:
- Blacksmithing overview: Tools, processes, safety briefing
- All materials required (carbon steel, hammers, tongs, anvil, gas forge, PPE)
- Forging your own project(s) with hammer and anvil
- All instructions and support required
- Lunch included from a local cafe
CHANGE OF TIME in 2024: 17th of Feb and 9th of March dates are from 9 am - 3 pm. After those dates this workshop is changing to be run 12 - 6 pm.
NOTE: This is not a knife making workshop but an introduction to blacksmithing and forging.
You may select to forge a blade during the day but we will not be completing any knives, focusing on the skills associated with forging and blacksmithing.
**This is a small workshop of max 6 students. To reschedule your spot to a different date and not forfeit your spot, requires 48 hours notice before the workshop is scheduled to start **
Suitable For:
- Anyone over 16 years old with an interest in blacksmithing
- Anyone able to lift a 1 kg hammer over the head and hammer "for a while" (we will help if you get tired)
- Anyone able to follow basic safety instructions as provided by your instructor who is with you every step of the way.
We recommend wearing full-length pants and closed-toe shoes on the day.
We will provide leather blacksmith aprons and suitable eye and ear protection. )

Great, fun day
Really fun day smashing hot steel. Jamie was an excellent, encouraging and supportive teacher. The experience has really stayed with me, I think blacksmithing may be mildly habit-forming.

Blacksmith introduction workshop
This was a great day and a good way to start to learn some techniques and skills in blacksmith and you get to learn from the sausage man. Everyone learning that day had a great time

Took my nephew. Made stuff, learned stuff - had fun!
