Description

Brisa Nessmuk Knife, Carbon Steel

A knife blade to be used for bushcrafting, camping, skinning and chopping.

One of the best allround compromises and the latest knife from Finnish maker Brisa.

The Nessmuk story:

George Washington Sears (December 2, 1821 – May 1, 1890) was a sportswriter for Forest and Stream magazine in the 1880s and an early conservationist. His stories, appearing under the pen name, "Nessmuk" popularized self-guided canoe camping tours of the Adirondack lakes in open, lightweight solo canoes and what is today called ultralight camping or ultralight backpacking. . He took his pen name from a Native American who had befriended him in early childhood.

The Brisa Nessmuk Knife:

  • 125 mm blade length in Carbon 80CrV2 steel
  • Scandi Grind with tempering colours left on the top half of the blade
  • Rough finished Green Micarta scales and nickel silver fittings
  • Sheath in solid leather

The blade is 3.8 mm thick, 26-35 mm wide and 125 mm long, total length including handle is 235 mm. Comfortable handles in solid micarta and nickel silver corby bolts. The blade is in 80CrV2 tough Carbon Steel with a hardness of 58-59 HRC.

From Brisa:

Got a roughed finnish to ensure a great grip in any conditions.

We prioritize slicing to chopping with this grinding angle. If you intend to use the Nessmuk for heavy chopping, our recommendation is

to add a second bevel approximately 16 + 16 = 32 degrees.
