Description
This Curly Birch Handle Block – Extreme Grade represents the highest level of natural figure available in unstabilised curly birch.
Curly birch grows in a cold, narrow band of northern Europe and has been used for centuries in Scandinavian knife making. Extreme grade pieces are carefully selected for very strong curl, contrast, and character, offering significantly more visual impact than standard or super grade blocks.
Despite its dramatic appearance, this material retains the natural workability that curly birch is known for. It shapes cleanly, sands smoothly, and responds beautifully to careful finishing, revealing depth and movement in the grain as the surface is refined.
This wood is not resin stabilised, making it ideal for makers who prefer traditional handle materials or wish to apply their own oils, waxes, or finishing treatments.
Each block measures approximately 120 × 40 × 30 mm, suitable for full-tang knife handles, tool handles, and other fine woodworking projects.
