Description
This Curly Birch Handle Block – Super Grade is a natural, unstabilised handle material selected for stronger curl and visual contrast than standard grade curly birch.
Curly birch grows in a cold, narrow band of northern Europe and has long been used in Scandinavian knife making for its fine grain, light colour, and distinctive figure. Super grade pieces are chosen for more pronounced wave patterns and character, while still retaining the natural feel and workability of untreated wood.
In its natural state, curly birch is easy to shape, sand, and finish using traditional methods. With careful finishing, the grain develops warmth and depth, revealing the characteristic curl that makes this wood so popular with knife makers.
This material is not resin stabilised, making it ideal for those who prefer traditional handle materials or wish to apply their own oils, waxes, or surface finishes.
Each block measures approximately 120 × 40 × 30 mm, suitable for full-tang knife handles, tool handles, and small fine woodworking projects.
