Description
D2 Blade Steel 3.3 x 50 x 900 mm
D2 knife steel in "chef knife size". **Note this steel comes with surface pitting and will require some grinding to get clean, reducing the thickness**
D2 is known for very high abrasion resistance (high carbon and vanadium), meaning it holds an edge for a long time. D2 is a semi-stainless with 12% chromium which gives some protection against corrosion but not enough to be classified as a stainless steel. D2 is used where a thin, long-lasting edge is required, often left over 60 HRC in production knives, for instance the EnZo Camper. D2 is not as close to a stainless steel as it sounds, not all the chromium is left to create the corrosion resistance after the quench.
