Description

Brisa Trapper Deluxe Kit with Sheath and Handle Scales

This is one of the most complete kits we sell,

and an easy project to complete with basic hand tools.

This kit consists of

  • High quality Brisa Trapper 95 blade
  • Handle Scales, pre-shaped
  • Corby bolts

Options: Select what material you want to complete the handle scales in.

The "Trapper" blade from Finnish company Brisa is a popular blade with great edge geometry for cutting.

The blade is about 3.6 mm thick, 25 mm wide and has 95 mm of blade. Total length 210 mm.

The blade is in N690Co a cobolt-enriched high-quality stainless steel. See product options for other versions of this blade, like the 01 Carbon Tool steel version or the super-steel ELMAX version.

The blade comes as either "scandi grind" where the bevels go part-way up the sides of the blade, or "flat grind" where the bevels go all the way up the sides of the blade. Scandi Grind is popular with buschcrafters due to the stronger blade and ease of sharpening, while many others prefer the thinner flat grind blade for better slicing performance.

The handle scales are in curly birch, a pale hardwood from Scandinavia (See options for other material options). Micarta is a man-made material that is not affected by moisture while still being warm and comfortable to the touch even though a synthetic material.

This high-quality kit is 80% completed.

Work required is to glue on the scales to the blade using Epoxy glue. In some kits the red spacer material is already glued to the scales, and in some kits this come as a loose item. If it comes loose in your kit, drill holes for the bolts and glue the spacer material to the handle scales. When the glue is dry, the spacer material can be cut to fit the handle scales using a sharp knife or file.

Securely screw down the Corby bolts, then file or grind off the bolt heads sticking above the handle scales.

Then sand the scales and finish them with oil, dye, wax or similar to seal them for improved durability.

The leather sheath is ready to use, in thick, exclusive oxe hide.
