Description
Canarywood knife block
Canarywood is a South American wood, growing from Panama down to Brazil with a easily recognisable fragrance. Even dry blocks of wood have a pleasent smell. (these smell amazing in our opinion!)
Machines, glues and finishes well despite the somewhat oily feel. Can vary somewhat in colour from yellow to brown, through orange/ochre tones and sometimes even rainbow-like streaks in the wood. Is said to have good acoustic properties and used in some string instruments (ref: The Wood Database)
The blocks are 30 x 40 x 120 mm in size, dry and ready to use with waxed ends.
Note there is an green/brown town to the blocks, to our experience this is not the colour when worked and sanded (check out the photo of sanded blocks, as well as of the completed knife handle)
