Laurin Knife Making Kit with Handle Materials

Great place to start if getting into knife making, consisting of a ready-to-go blade and handle materials!

Drill and file the handle block and guard until the blade tang fits.

Epoxy in the blade, and then design and make your own handle using a belt sander or files and sand paper.

The blades are made in Finland in either high carbon steel or stainless steel, depending on the model you select.

The knife making kit consists of:

• Laurin Whittling blade in either Carbon or Stainless Steel
• Laurin Puuko blade in either Carbon or Stainless Steel
• Handle block in your choice of wood
• Bolster or guard in your choice of brass or nickel silver

To make a knife from this kit, you need a cordless drill and some drill bits, a few files or a dremel, 2-component epoxy (for instance Araldite or Loctite) and a belt sander is not required but very useful.

Some sand paper to finish the handle and oil or wax (or our own Handle Finish) to seal the handle against moisture and loosing it's sheen over time.

Laurin blades are made in Finland in classic "puuko" styles - short and sharp blades made to be used with scandi grind and steels that hold an edge well. The Carbon steel blades are in 80CrV2 with the scale from heat treatment on the spine of the blade still.

The Whittling 80 Stainless blades are in C-0 stainless and the Puuko 95 in X55 Stainless.
