Description
This Wenge Handle Block is cut from a dense tropical African hardwood known for its dramatic colour contrast and distinctive layered grain.
Wenge features alternating bands of dark brown to near-black wood and lighter cinnamon-coloured grain, giving finished handles a bold, natural appearance. Due to its hardness and weight, wenge has been used in applications ranging from custom knives and musical instruments to archery bows, flooring, and fine furniture.
The wood is hard and durable, holding crisp edges and detail well once shaped. With careful sanding and finishing, the layered grain structure becomes more pronounced, resulting in a striking handle material.
When working wenge, appropriate dust protection is recommended, as fine dust can be irritating to the lungs or eyes — a standard precaution when machining dense exotic hardwoods.
Each block measures 130 × 40 × 30 mm, suitable for full-tang knife handles and small woodworking projects.
Minor variation in length may occur due to natural material and processing.
