Fiddleback Spotted Gum Wooden Knife Handle Scales

Spotted Gum is recognised as an Australian premium hardwood, popular for the striking grain structure and durability. Popular around the world for the striking looks and usability it possibly one of the most known Australian trees amongst architects and product designers.

These pieces are pale in color and all have fiddleback pattern, a feature in which the growth of the wood fibers is distorted in an undulating pattern, producing wavy lines known as "flames".

Each scale is about 140 x 35 x 10 mm, dry and straight. 

Due to the grain structure and distinct colouring, all scales are slightly different but similar to the ones pictured.

The scales had oil applied to bring up the grain structure for the photo.
