John J from Taree South sent us a couple of photos of a pretty special knife. The blade is a Brisa Farmer with 80 mm blade length in carbon steel, polished to remove the heat treatment scale.Handle is in Teak and the bolster is a 5 peso coin. But the coolest part is the sheath; check out the saddle mounted left-hand draw pankake sheath!Very cool. Nice work by Mark P
Mark has taken up knife making as a hobby after early retirement, and has sent us a couple of snaps. The first one is a blade in random damascus of his own design, with handle in Juma Ivory Snake and polished brass.Mark even made some prawn skewers from off-cuts of the Random pattern damascus! The below one is his first, using a Fighter Bowie blade and adding the handle in antler and brass butt plate. A matching bottle opener is a nice tough, Mark also modified the guard to his design.

Making a knife from an old file
Scott T in Victoria has sent us a photo showing how his block of stabilised curly birch turned out. The blade is from an old file given a new lease on life, the guard is in polished brass. This may not be a secret, that we are quite fond of Curly Birch here at Creative Man, and stabilised CB is no exception! Stabilised wood has the added benefits of not absorbing moisture and being able to take a bit more abuse than raw wood handles.
