Hardened Damascus Steel billets, Ready to grind
Really liking the stainless steel damascus steel billets, starting to get some great shots of blades made with it. And getting good feedback from makers who are saying it grinds well and holds a good edge. These are pre-hardened billets of stainless steel damascus, precision made using a Chinese version of VG10 as the core cutting edge and with softer stainless steels forge-welded to each side. This gives a strong, well perfoming blade edge which etches dark and the damascus sides etch in alterna

Review: EnZo Birk 75 folding knife, new versions in Desert Ironwood, Ivory Linen Micarta and Curly Birch
Quality EDC Review: EnZo Birk 75 in Scandi and Flat Grind, Desert Ironwood, Curly Birch
**Disclaimer: I sell these folders and the Birk 75 is my EDC, so I
possibly am a bit biased towards EnZo in my reviews ***
The EnZo Birk 75 is possibly the only scandi grind production folder in Australia?
The EnZo Birk is a quality Scandinavian folder in either flat grind with micro-bevel or true zero scandi grind.
The flat grind is 16+16 degrees for combined 32 while the zero scandi is 12

How To: Heat Treating 12c27 Stainless Steel
Instructions for Hardening and Tempering 12C27 Steel12c27 is a popular Stainless Steel, made by Sandvik in Sweden. There are several hardening profiles suggested by Sandvik, the below is one of these, providing good hardening with a temperature controlled gas forge. 12c27 is possibly one of the easiest stainless steels to heat treat at home.*Disclaimer; I am an amateur knife maker, the below is only my understanding and experience, and not to be seen as authoritative advice. Nordic Puuko in Traditional Materials
Really happy with the latest Nordic knives, especially the handle shape on the Curly Birch Puuko is something I want to try to copy the feel of:http://creativeman.com.au/curly-birch-puuko-ahti-janka-75/ The handle is in curly birch, not a very highly figured grade but still attractive. The comfortable handle shape, and a short sharp blade with scandi grind and brass bolster gives a solid feel in the hand. I think I will try to aim for this handle shape in some of my stick tangs next.

Reindeer and Birch Puuko with Carbon Steel Blade
Reindeer antler is often used in knife handles in Scandinavia, in the northern regions across Norway, Sweden and Finland. Dense and heavy with little marrow, the antler pieces are either used as full handle rolls, or as smaller sections within wooden handles. As opposed to stag antler handles, reindeer handles are generally ground to shape, showing the paler inside of the antler. http://creativeman.com.au/kauhava-reindeer-and-curly-birch-knife-95/ Hand made in Finland, this puuko
